Corona test at airports in Germany: What travelers can expect in 2022

Many airports offer travelers the opportunity to be tested for Corona. Here you will find an overview of how the Covid-19 tests (PCR and antigen rapid tests) are carried out at the largest German airports and where you can find the test centers.

  • Mandatory in many countries: Corona test upon entry
  • Some returning travelers require a current corona test
  • Free citizen tests available at some airports

Rules for Returning Travelers

All returnees must be able to present one of the following proofs when entering Germany: a current corona test , proof of full vaccination or proof of convalescence . Children under the age of 6 are exempt from the test requirement. The entry rules apply to all countries , regardless of whether you are entering from a non-risk area, a high-risk area or a virus variant area. Stricter rules apply when entering the country from a high-risk or virus variant area, and the digital entry declaration is also required.

With all tests you should always take into account how long it takes from the swab to the result. Please also note that due to the rapid spread of the omicron variant, laboratory times may be longer or the laboratories may be overloaded in many places.

Overview: Corona tests at all major German airports

You should consider this before testing

In order not to affect the test result, you should not eat, drink, smoke or brush your teeth at least 15 minutes before the test!

In addition, people with corona symptoms are usually not examined at the test points at the airports.
