No access to lecture halls! In this German university, unvaccinated students are immediately not allowed to attend lectures.
The Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg will be introducing the 2G rule from Monday – and will no longer allow unvaccinated students into the lecture halls.
2G! Unvaccinated students have to listen from home
The one-week transition phase from 3G to 2G begins on Monday: Then only vaccinated or recovered students should be allowed to take part in courses. The so-called “hybrid teaching” is intended for the unvaccinated.
▶ ︎ Means: Unvaccinated students have to follow the lectures and seminars via recording or transmission. The university is planning intensive checks on vaccination and recovery records.
For unvaccinated students, the exclusion from the face-to-face events means a drastic cut in their everyday university life: They are only allowed to visit the library and study rooms and take exams.

FAU PRESS RELEASE: Unvaccinated people can continue to study properly
“In view of the worrying conditions currently in the intensive care units – especially at the Erlangen University Hospital – the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU), in coordination with the deans, the dean’s offices and student representatives, decided to introduce the 2G rule for their teaching operations in attendance. According to this, only vaccinated or recovered people will be able to take part in face-to-face events at FAU in the future. This should not only serve the safety of students and teachers, but also help a new lockdown in the presence of universities and colleges.
2G applies from November 15, 2021 – with a transition period until November 22: Only students and teachers with 2G status (i.e. vaccinated or recovered) are allowed to enter the course rooms (lecture halls and seminar rooms). An exception applies to the university library, CIP pools, study rooms and self-study areas.
If there is one person among the registered students for a course who has not been vaccinated or has not recovered, hybrid formats should be used so that vaccinated students can continue to study in attendance and non-2G students can continue to study properly. You can follow the content either via synchronous transmission or via (possibly already existing) recordings. Teachers should only switch to a complete online format where a hybrid format is not feasible.
3G still applies to practical events (e.g. in the field of music and sports) or laboratory exercises.”
