Below is an overview of travel warnings from the Federal Foreign Office to holiday destinations worldwide. In addition: Which countries are classified as Corona high-risk or virus variant areas.

The list of entry bans is an overview of relevant travel countries. Please inquire at the Federal Foreign Office * before every trip . Details can also be found at the European Union *.

Since August 1st, there are new entry rules for returnees to Germany as well as new classifications of risk areas:

  • A country or region is considered a high-risk corona area if there is a particularly high incidence there or if there are other indications that there is an increased risk of infection with the coronavirus in this area, in particular due to the speed of spread observed there or due to insufficient or reliable epidemiological data.
  • A country or region is considered a virus variant area if a certain variant of the coronavirus occurs there, not yet widespread in Germany, where there is still uncertainty that vaccines or a survived infection have no or only limited protection against this variant . severe disease courses are to be feared.

Egypt

  • negative PCR test must be presented upon entry . Vaccinated people and children under six years of age are exempt from the obligation to test. See below for details.

Argentina

  • The entry of fully vaccinated foreign tourists is possible again.
  • The second vaccination must have been given at least 14 days before entry.
  • Further requirements: negative PCR test no more than 72 hours old; Affidavit to be submitted online 48 hours before the trip *; Travel health insurance that covers a Covid-19 illness as well as necessary quarantine and ambulance transport for any contact persons.
  • Unvaccinated foreign travelers are not allowed to enter .
  • Travel warning from the Federal Foreign Office: NO

  • Corona virus variant area: NO

Australia

  • Tourist entry into Australia is not permitted until further notice . Corresponding visas are generally not issued.
  • If holidaymakers are re-admitted (probably not before 2022), according to media reports, the following requirements should apply: Full vaccination, additional PCR test and a quarantine of at least one week.

  • All travelers must register online *. Unvaccinated travelers are also required to take out and pay for Sri Lankan Covid-19 insurance in connection with registration. This costs 12 US dollars.
  • Before entering the country, a  health declaration (“Health Declaration Form”) * must be completed for all travelers . From January 1, 2022, this health declaration must be submitted online on the Colombo Airport website * before departure .
  • All persons over 12 years of age must present a negative PCR test upon entry, which is not older than 72 hours at the time of departure. This must be written in English.

  • A fully completed travel health questionnaire * must be submitted upon entry .
  • All travelers are also expected to have the Covid Alert South Africa * mobile app installed on their mobile phones, to show travel health insurance and to present their proof of accommodation including address should quarantine be required.

  • All travelers who are not fully vaccinated (with the exception of children under the age of 12) must spend 10 days of mandatory quarantine in a quarantine hotel * to be booked in advance . People are considered fully vaccinated if their second vaccination was given at least 14 days before entry (at Johnson & Johnson the only vaccination at least 28 days before entry).
  • When entering by sea – especially with camping vehicles – difficulties may arise due to the lack of relevant regulations on the Tunisian side. Entry without a hotel booking and return ticket could be refused.
